Yarn: Lion Brand’s Hometown USA super bulky weight 100% acrylic yarn (5 oz/81 yds/142g per hank): 1 hank each in Chicago Charcoal and Detroit Blue.
Hook: size 9.0 mm
Pattern Info
Gauge: 9 rows and 8 sts = 4” in sc
Pattern Sizes: Baby = 5″ x 14″
Toddler = 6″ x 16″
Child = 7″ x 16.5″
Adult = 8″ x 19″
Skill level: Easy (some crochet experience necessary)
Necessary Skills: basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes

Notes
Hat worked in a spiral, do not connect rnds.
Sizes are written for baby size with toddler, child and adult sizes in parentheses.
Color options:
• Alternate colors every 2 rnds.
• Work hat in one color adding 2 rnds of contrasting color beginning 4 rnds before the end of the hat switching to main color for the last 2 rnds.
Pattern
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)
Rnd 3: [Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] rep around. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: [Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] rep around. (32 sc)
Rnd 5: [Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] rep 2 (4, 6, 8) times, sc in each remaining st around. 34 (36, 38, 40 sc)
Rnd 6: [Sk next st, 2 sc in next st] rep around.
Rnd 7 – end: Rep rnd 6 for 6 (8, 10, 12) more rnds.
To finish: Sl st in next 3 sts, finish off, weave in ends.
