Nerd Girl Yarns Swanky DK 50% superwash merino/50% silk yarn (230 yds/100g per hank): 1 hank in Sculpture Gardens.

Hook size (I-9) 5.5 mm

Pattern information

Gauge: 9 rows and 16 sts = 4” as pattern repeats

Completed Dimensions (lying flat, height to longest point including fringe): 22” x 12”

Pattern Sizes: One size fits most (preteen – adult)

Skill level: 2 Easy (some crochet experience necessary)

Necessary Skills: basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns

ch – chain

dc – double crochet

prev – previous

rep – repeat

RS – right side

sc – single crochet

sk – skip

sl st – slip stitch

sp(s) – space(s)

Pattern

Ch 103.

Row 1: (RS) Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (102 sc)

Row 2: Ch 3, turn, dc in same st as ch, [ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st] across. (34 ch-2 sps)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st/ch across. (102 sc)

Rows 4 – 27: [Rep rows 2 and 3] 13 times

Fringe/angle rows:

Row 28: Rep Row 2.

Row 29: Ch 10, turn, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, ch 8, sc in 1st dc from prev row and in each st/ch across.

Row 30: Ch 3, turn, dc in same st as ch, [ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st] 31 xs (leaving rem 9 sts (3 squares) unworked).

Row 31: Ch 10, turn, sl st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, ch 8, sc in 1st dc from prev row and in each st/ch across.

Row 32: Ch 3, turn, dc in same st as ch, [ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc in next st] across row to last 9 sts (leaving 3 squares unworked).

Rows 33 – 50: Rep rows 31 & 32 consecutively for pattern (stitches reduce on one side of piece until one square remains).

Row 51: Rep row 31.

Sewing:

Sl st along end of rows 51 – 28 then sl st both sides of rows 1 – 27 together (see picture below).
