Spring Lion & Spring Lamb – 2 Free Crochet Cowl Patterns

Spring Lion

 

Materials

Yarn: Mountain Colors Homespun 85% wool/ 15% silk super bulky thick and thin yarn (170 yards/200 g per skein) 1 skein in Canyon.

Hook size: 8 mm

Pattern Info

Gauge: 7 sts and 8 rows = 4” in hdc

Completed dimensions: 12” x 7”

Skill level: 2 easy

Necessary Skills: Basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns

Abbreviations

[ ]         work instructions within brackets as many times as directed

ch         chain

hdc      half double crochet

rep       repeat

Pattern

Ch 46 and connect ch with a sl st to form a circle.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, working in the back ridge of the ch, hdc in each ch around. (46 hdc)

Rnd 2: (Following rnds worked in a spiral, do not connect rnds, work all sts in the furthest back ridge/loop of the previous hdc st here and throughout pattern), hdc in each st around.

Rnds 3 – 12: Hdc in each st around.

Rnd 13: Sl st in each st around, finish off.
