Reverse Single Crochet (rsc)

Working backwards across the row, insert hook into next st to the right (if left handed, insert hook into next st to the left), yoh, draw loop up (2 loops on hook), yoh and draw through both loops on hook, 1 rsc complete.

Pattern Sizes

Tunic is worked in two sections: a front panel and a back panel. The two panels are sewn together with openings remaining for the neck and armholes.

Pattern

Front Panel—

Choose a pattern size. Work the initial number of chains for the selected size.

Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. (stitch count = # of chains – 2)

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc), hdc in next st and in each st across.

Rep row 2 until front panel reaches appropriate panel height for selected size. Do not finish off.

Reverse sc along sides of rows and foundation chain, leaving the final hdc row of panel unworked. Finish off.

Back panel—

Work back panel identical to front panel, work reverse sc edging. Do not finish off.

Blocking notes

If the finished panel ends up a bit off-target in terms of its width, blocking can save the day.

If the panel is too narrow, add a few extra rows to the length, then dampen the whole piece and stretch it out to the desired width to dry; the extra rows of length will get pulled down into the needed width.

If the panel is too wide, take out a few rows from the length, dampen it, and stretch it vertically; the extra width will be absorbed into more length as it dries.
