Cowl section –

Ch 26 (32, 38), join ch w/ sl st, ch 1.

Rnd 1: Sc in each ch. (26, 32, 38 sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in each sc. (26, 32, 38 sc)

Row 3: Note: Now working in rows. Ch 3 (4, 5), turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch (note: work sts on bottom of ch and make sure ch is lined up with the sts from previous rnd), sc in the next 24 (29, 34) sts (note: there will be unworked sts). (26, 32, 38 sc)

Row 4: Ch 9 (11, 13), turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch (note: work sts on bottom of ch and make sure ch is lined up with the sts from previous row), sc in each sc across. (34, 42, 50 sc)

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc. (34, 42, 50 sc)

T – Row 6 – 8: Rep row 5, finish off.

C – Rows 6 – 10: Rep row 5, finish off.

Tw – Rows 6 – 12: Rep row 5, finish off.

Shawl section –

Ch 9 (12, 15).

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 1 (2, 3) ch, 2 sc in next ch (place marker), sc in next 2 (3, 4) chains, 2 sc in next ch (place marker), sc in next 2 (3, 4) ch, ch 1, turn. (10, 13, 16 sc)

Row 2: Sc in each st to marker, 2 sc at marker, sc in each st to next marker, 2 sc at marker, sc in each rem st, ch 1, turn. (12, 15, 18 sc)

Row 3: Rep row 2. (14, 17, 20 sc)

Row 4: Rep row 2. (16, 19, 22 sc)

Row 5: Rep row 2. (18, 21, 24 sc)

Row 6: Rep row 2. (20, 23, 26 sc)

Row 7: Rep row 2. (22, 25, 28 sc)

Note: T– skip to Row 13.

Row 11: Rep row 2. (T, C, 36 sc)

Note: In the remaining rows, we will work on one side of the shawl between the end of the row and the 1st marker.

Row 13: Sc in each st to 2 sts before 1st marker, sc2tog, ch 1, turn.

Row 14: Sc2tog, (move marker), sc in each rem st, ch 1, turn.

Row 15: Sc in each st to 2 sts before marker, sc2tog, ch 1, turn.

Rep rows 14 and 15 until 3 stitches remain. Finish off.
